Popular excursion destinations

The Großglockner is a mountain, a myth and a challenge all in one. This becomes clear on a trip along Austria's highest pass road. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is a marvel of road engineering and leads up to 2,500 metres above sea level.

The largest ice cave in the world: the Eisriesenwelt near Werfen not only fascinates visitors with its size, but also with a gigantic labyrinth and unique ice figures. You can experience the impressive cave system up close on a guided tour that is around one kilometre long.

The masses of water plunge an impressive 380 metres over three steep steps: the Krimml Waterfalls attract visitors from all over the world. A four-kilometre hiking trail with viewing points and pulpits takes you up close to the highest waterfalls in Europe.

Here you go on an interactive journey back in time to the Middle Ages and the Celtic era: in the Salzburg Salt Worlds you are on the trail of the "essence of life" and explore the four eras of salt mining underground. In the associated Celtic.experience.mountain, you will visit the Celtic village and the salt manufactory. To round things off, a themed playground awaits the little ones.

Salzburg combines culture and art. As the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, it is still the centre of classical music today and still leaves plenty of room for modern city life between Mozart's birthplace, Hellbrunn Zoo and Hohensalzburg Fortress. You can easily reach the city from Zell am See-Kaprun by train or car in just under 1.5 hours: Ideal for a short visit and shopping spree in the provincial capital!
